28/11/2025 – Site relaunch
Hooray! The long-awaited new website is finally here! As before, it's divided into a gallery section and a systematic section, and has been adapted to current UI requirements and technical standards. I welcome any feedback, including bug reports, should anything not be working correctly. One more thing: since my previous frontend was more or less from 2016 and therefore supported the browser versions common at that time, users with older browser versions may need to update them. For now, the old website also remains accessible via legacy.fkohl.de. Alternatively, in some cases it is possible – albeit with some loss of functionality – to temporarily disable JavaScript in the browser.
12/11/2025 – Late identification
Let's report a late identification, new for this site is the class Thecostraca, represented by the subclass Barnacles Cirripedia.
May 2024 adds the following species: The weevil Magdalis ruficornis and two mining bees, Andrena nigroaenea and Hawks-beard mining bee, Andrena fulvago, RL 3.
15/11/2024 – Starting 2024
The first four months of 2024 only added one species: The ladybug Nephus quadrimaculatus. Furthermore, I adapted the leaf- and longhorned beetles to current nomenclature and tidied up some leftovers in the butterflies. Doing this, I determined the following additional species: The leaf beetle Oomorphus concolor, the daniaids Hamadryas amphinome and Eryphanis aesacus and also the papilionids Battus polydames and Pachliopta aristolochiae.
09/10/2024 – 2023 finals
The remainder of the year 2023 added the following species to my photo collection: The choreutid Choreutis nemorana, the leafcutter bee Megachile pilidens/leachella, the plant bug Orthotylus viridinervis, the short-horned grasshopper Sphingonotus caerulans, RL 2, furthermore from the aquarium the infraorder of Shrimps, Caridea represented by the superfamily Alpheoidea, represented by the family of Hump-backed shrimps, Hippolytidae, represented by the Pacific white-striped cleaner shrimp, Lysmata amboinensis and the Cardinal shrimp, Lysmata debelius.
29/09/2024 – New additions from Provence 2023
From the Provence in 2023 there are following additions to my photo collection: The bee flies Bombylius cruciatus and Lomatia sp., the superfamily Scolioidea represented by the family Mammoth wasps, Scoliidae, represented by Scolia hirta, the club-horned wasp Sapygina decemguttata, the ant Crematogaster sp., the owlet moth Acontia lucida, the blue Satyrium esculi, the yellow Gonepteryx cleopatra, the dermestid beetle Attagenus trifasciatus, the dung beetle Protaetia morio, the leaf beetle Labidostomis taxicornis, the soft-winged flower beetle Enicopus pilosus, the soldier beetle Cratosilis denticollis, RL V, the short-horned grasshopper Pezotettix giornae, the stink bug Carpocoris mediterraneus, the jumping spiders Menemerus semilimbatus and Heliophanus tribulosus, RL 3, furthermore the daddy-long-leg spider Holocnemus pluchei.

The rest of the year 2022 added the following species to my photo collection: The dung beetle Omaloplia ruricola, RL 3, the false flower beetle Anaspis thoracica, the weevils Barypeithes maritimus and Phyllobius videaeris, the soft-winged flower beetle Ebaeus flavicornis, the mining bee Andrena labiata, the leafcutter bee Stelis breviuscula, the bumble bee Bombus cryptarum, the sawfly Monophadnus spinolae, the leafroller moths Cydia pactolana, Phiaris micana and Grapholita molesta, the brown lacewing Hemerobius pini, the plant bug Phytocoris parvulus, the seed bug Scolopostethus thomsoni, the cicadas Oncopsis flavicollis, Oncopsis carpini, Allygus communis and Macrosteles laevis, the jumping spider Pseudeuophrys obsoleta. Furthermore there are some late identifications: The limoniid fly Ilisia maculata, the parasite fly Eliozeta helluo.
17/05/2024 – New additions from Kenya 2022
During my stay in Kenya 2022, I was able to add following additions to my photo collection: The net-winged beetle Lycus constrictus, the Dark blue pansy, Junonia oenone, the Brown pansy, Junonia natalica, the Common leopard, Phalantha phalantha, the Plain tiger butterfly, Danaus chrysippus, the Purple-brown hairstreak, Hypolycaena philippus, the Coffee bee hawk moth, Cephonodes hylas, the family Stathmopodidae, the German cockroach, Blatella germanica, the family Blattidae, represented by the American cockroach, Periplaneta americana, the skimmer dragonfly Brachythemis leucosticta, the jumping spider Thyene ogdeni, the marsh crab Pachygrapsus marmoratus, and some other species not identified to species level.

The year of 2021 adds: The minute brown scavenger beetle Enicmus testaceus, the comb-clawed beetle Isomira murina, the longhorned beetles Plagionotus detritus, RL 2 and Aromia moschata, the Black carpenter beetle, Attagenus unicolor, the death watch beetle Ernobius mollis, the footman Diaphora mendica, the owlet moth Noctua fimbriata, the twirler moth Orypteryx atrella, the leafroller moth Pammene suspectana, the mud dauber Astata boops, the sawfly Athalia circularis, the family Window flies, Scenopinidae, represented by Scenopinus fenestralis, the robber flies Neomochtherus geniculatus and Neoitamus cyanurus, the stilt-legged fly Micropeza gallatrix, the parasite fly Gonia picea, the pradtory fungus gnat Keroplatus reaumurii, the plant bug Globiceps sphaegiformis, the Banana mealybug, Pseudococcus elisae, the mimetid Ero furcata.
20/02/2024 – Revision of owlets, robberflies and wasps
I did some maintenance work and adapted the systematics of the following areas to matchthe current nomenclature: Owlet moths, Noctuoidea, Robber flies, Asilidae und Wasps, Hymenoptera. This brought some corrections and new identifications. For the owlet moths Bastilla angularis. For the robber flies Cyrtopogon lateralis, Tolmerus cingulatus and cf.Dysmachus trigonus. For the Hymenoptera, I mainly worked on the complex of Proctotrupoidea, Chalcidoidea, Diaprioidea, Cynipoidea, Platygastroidea. Furthermore, the Apoidea got updated and the Cephoidea. Chalcidoidea: The families Ormyridae, Perilampidae, Pteromalidae, Aphelinidae, Encyrtidae, represented by Encyrtus cf.aurantii, Eupelmidae represented by Anastatus bifasciatus, furthermore Haltichella rufipes of the family Chalcididae. Cynipoidea: The family Ibaliidae represented by Ibalia rufipes. Diaprioidea: The superfamily Diaprioidea, represented by the family Diapriidae. Platygastroidea: The superfamily Platygastroidea. Cephoidea: Calameuta cf.filiformis and Calameuta cf.pallipes. Furthermore Lepismachilis y-signata amongst other bristletails.

26/04/2023 – New additions
The following new additions can be reported, among others: The water scavenger beetle Helophorus nivalis, the leaf beetle Chaetocnema hortensis, the weevils Otiorhynchus salicicola and O. porcatus, the carrion beetle Nicrophorus investigator, the fruit fly Tephritis formosa, the true moth Tinea pellionella, the owlet moth Mythimna pallens, the pyralid moths Cydalima perspectalis and Hypsopygia costalis, the brown lacewing Psectra diptera, RL D, a mating of the wasp Dolichovespula saxonica, the ichneumonid wasp Coelocentrus caligatus, the lace bug Tingis reticulata, the gall louse Adelges tardus, the cicada Fieberiella florii. Moreover there are some corrections: Leucospis dorsigera instead of L. gigas, a new identification of the rove beetle Staphylinus caesareus caused me to revise all specimen currently listed as this species and move them to the following species: S. dimidiaticornis, Platydracus latebricola, P. chalcocephalus and P. stercorarius.
